Number of decision-makers at trade fairs grows
Trade fair visit becoming a matter of course
19.09.2005 The
number and share of decision-makers in Germany who visit trade fairs have risen
significantly. This is confirmed by the results of LAE 2005 – Readership
Analysis of Decision-makers in Business and Administration – a survey conducted
on behalf of several large German publishing companies.
The survey established that 1.92 mill. decision-makers use trade fairs for
buying and information, that represents 84 % of all decision-makers. According
to the LAE 2003, the figure was only 1.73 mill. (= 77%). Thus, trade fair
visits have meanwhile become part of the standard range of tasks of a manager.
The number of German decision-makers who
visit trade fairs several times a year for professional reasons increased
between 2003 and 2005 from 721,000 to 891,000 (+ 23.6%). Thus, the number of
decision-makers making intensive use of trade fairs increased particularly
strongly.
Once a year, 614,000 decision-makers are present at trade fairs as visitors
(+6.2% compared with 2003). The number of those who make use of trade fairs
less than once a year has decreased – from 431,000 auf 410,000 (- 4.9%).
In the opinion of AUMA - Association of the German Trade Fair Industry - this
result confirms the analyses of the trade fair organizers, according to which,
with an almost constant total volume of visitors, visits to trade fairs are
becoming increasingly concentrated on decision-makers.
For the exhibiting industry the chances are thus increased, in particular, of
directly addressing managers at trade fairs. The trade fairs thus confirmed
their importance and efficiency as a leading instrument in the
dialogue-communication for decision-makers.
