Hans-Joachim Boekstegers new Chairman of AUMA
Thomas H. Hagen hands over duties on 1st of January 2008

Hans-Joachim Boekstegers (52), Managing Director of MULTIVAC Sepp Haggenmüller GmbH & Co. KG, Wolfertschwenden/Allgäu, was elected new Chairman of AUMA – Association of the German Trade Fair Industry – on 6th November 2007. On 1st January 2008, he will succeed Thomas H. Hagen, member of the Executive Board of Demag Cranes AG, Düsseldorf, who has chaired AUMA since 2004.
Boekstegers has been member of the Executive Board of AUMA since May 2006. He has been managing the MULTIVAC-Group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of machines for the pack-aging of food, sterile medical goods and industrial products since 2002. The company has 2,500 employees worldwide and generates sales of over 450 mill. Euro.
Manfred Wutzlhofer, first Vice Chairman of AUMA and CEO of Messe München, acknowledged the contributions made by the retir-ing chairman at the members’ assembly. “Thomas H. Hagen has rendered great service to AUMA. Right at the start of his term of office he had initiated a discussion about the mission and strategic objectives of AUMA, leading to the development of a detailed cata-logue of priorities”, emphasized Wutzlhofer. As a result, during his term of office, AUMA has significantly increased its umbrella mar-keting pro trade fairs and fulfilled essential preconditions for in-creasing its research activities in the long run.
On the political level, too, AUMA was able to score on the political level: A sponsorship programme for trade fair participations of young, innovative companies was launched by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in spring 2007.
The highlight of Hagen’s term of office was the ceremony to mark the 100th anniversary of AUMA in May 2007, the concept of which he influenced substantially.
AUMA, as the association of the German trade fair industry, has 84 members, including 42 associations of the exhibiting and visiting industries as well as the service companies, and 42 trade fair organ-izers.
